Petrol, diesel prices today: The prices of petrol and diesel were hiked again on Sunday, 48 hours after they were last revised on June 4. Petrol price in the national capital was hiked by 27 paise and are now at Rs 95.03 per litre. Diesel was hiked by 29 paise and is now priced at Rs 85.95 per litre.
In the nation’s commercial capital Mumbai, petrol price were also hiked by 27 paise and now stand at Rs 101.25 per litre. Diesel prices were hiked by 31 paise and it now costs Rs 93.30 per litre there.
This is the third hike in fuel prices in June itself.
Petrol rates had already crossed the Rs 100-mark in various cities of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Fuel rates vary across the states in the country due to value-added tax or VAT.
State-run oil refiners had hiked petrol and diesel prices on May 4, ending an 18-day hiatus in rate revision observed during the assembly elections held in states such as Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, among others. (Also Read: How To Find Latest Petrol, Diesel Rates In Your City)

The state-run oil marketing companies – Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum align the rates of domestic fuel with that of global crude oil prices by taking into account any changes in foreign exchange rates. Any changes in fuel prices are implemented with effect from 6 am every day.
