The suspect sought in relation with the fatal San Jose shooting was arrested early on Friday while attempting to escape the country, officials said.
The shooting, confirmed Thursday night in an outlet mall in the 100 block East William Street, left one woman dead and another man in hospital. The shooting was the 27th murder in San Jose this year.
Surveillance footage shows a man taking a car out shooting a gun, then shoots two persons.
Police aren’t able identify the person responsible for the shooting, but members of the victim’s family been told by NBC Bay Area the suspect was her ex-boyfriend. The suspect was detained in San Ysidro near the Mexican border, according to police. Police are expected to transport the person into San Jose.

In the case of the victim, he was shot dead and the male wounded during a shooting incident that took place at night on Thursday. The suspect was detained after 10 hours of trying to traverse the California border to Mexico as per San Jose police.
The gunfire was located in the 10th second of 10:30 p.m. at Block 1100 located on East William Street, between South 22nd Street and McLaughlin Avenue. The responding officers discovered two victims. The woman was killed immediately and believed that the second victim was still alive.
Death of this individual was not publicized until the official identification of the deceased and the notification of her next of kin by the Santa Cruz County Medical Examiner and Coroner’s Office.
Police say that around 7 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers from San Ysidro — just across the U.S. border from Tijuana were informed of the features of a suspect and were able detain the suspect who was involved in the shooting.
Additional details about the incident such as is the name of the suspect and the motive for the shooting, was not available when the shooter was killed.
The murder was the city’s 27th murder of the year of the calendar. San Jose police had investigated 24 murders at the year 2021.
Man killed in fatal shooting is San Jose’s fifth murder this year
A man was shot to death by a police officer in San Jose on Saturday morning and police are investigating the incident as a homicide, police confirmed.
Police officers were called around 7:16 a.m. to a call of a person on the 1900 block Aborn Road and found a man who was shot at least one time, San Jose police said in an official statement.
The body was found dead at the scene the police reported. Police said the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim after identifying him, and will notify his family.
The murder is San Jose’s fifth murder in the past year, police reported.
The person who was involved in the shooting has not been identified yet and was thought to be missing in the afternoon of Saturday, police confirmed.
