What is Canvas?
Canvas is an educational managing system (LMS) that provides teachers with classes with support for instruction, calendars of class assignment, communications, and tools for students in a secure online environment. For traditional face-to-face classrooms, Canvas is an integral component of teaching blended classes.
What is an observer’s role in Canvas?
The Observers are granted limited access to let them see the activities taking place within a course as well as the calendar of assignments. As students, observers are unable to access courses until they posted and the class has begun. For help with assignments and Exam Dates as well as Quizzes and other Canvas course material you can contact the teacher of your child.

Where do I change my password?
Change your password within the Account Settings. Go to Edit Settings to the left and then click the box that says Change Password. Enter your old and new password, then click Update Settings.
When I update my username in Skyward will it be reflected in Canvas? alter to the same way in Canvas?
No. Canvas Skyward and Canvas Skyward passwords aren’t linked. They’re set separately.
How do I arrange the students in my class?
- You can alter the color of modules of your course for your children. If you are on the Canvas application, click on the pencil icon in the upper right side of the module. On a PC, you’ll click the three dots located on the upper right side of the course module to alter the color.
- You can name the courses when you are using a computer to help them be easier to recognize. On the computer, you click the three dots located on the upper right side of the module you want to call the course.
- You can only show the course modules that you want to view in your Dashboard. Select Courses within the Navigation Bar. Scroll down to the entire list of Courses. Add a yellow star each course you would like to display in the Dashboard. The color can be changed and updated as often you’d would like. You can set is your “favorites”. On the App , click on the gear in the upper right corner to go access to all courses.
